I've struggled a bit with exposures on the D7500; metering differences employing Spot and Center-weighted aren't as effective as on the Olympus bodies I've been using. I'm still experimenting with settings to remedy this, and chalking it up to my inexperience with Nikon's approach rather than to the D7500's incompetence. After 3000+ exposures, by and large I'm satisfied with the performance of the body, the placement of buttons, options, and its overall construction. Nikon's counterclockwise mounting of lenses still catches me off guard, but I take it they've been that way for quite a long time. The 16-80mm handles most tasks it was designed for very well. The minimum focusing distance of 14 inches is a boon for working with bugs & blossoms on those occasions when swapping to a micro-Nikkor in a dusty environment wouldn't be wise. Most of my shooting in recent weeks has been of wildlife, so this lens hasn't seen as much use as it would have in the hands of someone interested in landscapes and portraiture. However, it handled the blossoming of the Sonoran desert very well where individual plants or a stand of cacti were the subject.[A firmware update from Nikon addressing an issue with barrel distortion for this lens made a noticeable improvement.] LessLarry 路 Review provided by bhphotovideo.comAll Reviews
